Dear Parents,

School Site Council

As the year comes to a close, I wanted to let you know the result of our School Site Council election. Next year, the new parent representatives for SSC will be Tracy LIeb and Deanna Ward. Whitney Woydiziak will be the alternate. They will join the other parent representatives, Jennifer Marozas, Kelly Sekera, and Kim Anderson. Our teacher representatives will be Sarah Hernandez, Amy Richardson, Kylie Svancara and Elizabeth Faraday. Our classified rep is going to be Eileen Schultz. Our first SSC meeting for 2018-2019 is planned for August 28th at 8:30am.

New Bell Schedule

In an effort to coordiate our district's many bell schedules, Montair School Site Council evaluated the proposed bell choices and selected our new times. While the full schedule, including recesses is still going through the approval process, I wanted to let you know the starting and end times so you can begin to make carpool plans. Our 1st- 5th graders will start school at 8:20am, with dismissal on M,T,Th,F at 2:50pm. Wednesday dismissals will be 1:40. Our AM TK and Kinders will begin at 8:10am with dismissal at 11:40 on M,T,Th,F. PM Kinders will begin school at 11:50 with dismissal at 3:20pm. All Kinders and TK will attend school from 8:10- 11:40am on Wednesdays. Please note that on the first day of school Kinders and TK only have a very special schedule. Schedule anomalies:

Assessment Days (1st and 2nd grades) To allow our primary classrooms to individually assess students' present levels for reading, writing, phonics and math, all 1st and 2nd graders attend school on an adjusted schedule from August 14 through August 24th. The 1st and 2nd graders will attend school from 8:20-1:40 for the first two weeks. After that, students in 2nd grade return to the full day schedule (8:20-2:50) while the 1st graders will split the students into early and late readers with different start and end times. While we know these changes in schedule make transportation tricky, we have found that the one on one time for assessment is invaluable in moving forward with planning for the needs of the kiddos in these young grades.

Early Dismissal Days- 8:20-12:10

  • August 13, 31
  • October 4,8,9,10,11, 12, 31
