Montair Art Docent

Welcome to Montair's Art Docent Program!

In the teacher locker to the left you will find the most current edition of the Art Docent Manual and the Clay and Kiln Manual.  You will also find a link to the California State Standards for Visual Art. SRVUSD Art Lessons can also be accessed from here.  In the "locker" you will also find links to websites that have great project ideas and/or lesson plans.

You are welcome to use the art lessons provided by the district OR, if you are comfortable doing this, create your own lessons.  If you find a project you would like to do but can't find a lesson plan for it, you can contact me for help creating one.

If possible, lessons should include one or more of the following:

  • famous artist (ie. Van Gogh),
  • specific technique (ie. pointellism),
  • type of art style (ie. Impressionism),
  • period/era of art (ie, Rennaisance),
  • cultural art (ie, molas) or art theory (ie, color theory, perspective, etc)

Just keep in mind that you are limited to the supplies found in the Art Docent Closet.  Any other supplies will have to come out of your own pocket.

All classrooms have document cameras that will allow you to project visual aids on a large screen.  Photos and videos from the internet can be streamed directly from the classroom teachers laptop.  Before your lesson, email links to the teacher.  Be sure to prescreen all information from the internet to ensure it is appropriate before students view it.

Note:  The district does not have TK or SD lesson plans.  Contact me if you need help coming up with ideas.

Please meet with your classroom teacher to start scheduling monthly art lessons.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact Kim Bowles at kbowles@srvusd.net or 820-8193.
